INTRODUCTION

The year is 2075. Streets brim with neon both traditional and in augmented reality, and the Sixth World has only gotten more complex with time. 5 years have passed since the Emergence of technomancers. 2 years have passed since Great Dragon Sirrug killed thousands in Columbia. MHVV has worsened, while the Great Dragon Civil War has been declared finished.

Of course, the more things change, the more they stay the same. For most members of the Sixth World, they know it as it’s been for decades: a world where megacorporations rule, magic and technology seem to outweigh the quality of life, and mysterious figures known as shadowrunners tow the line as both menace and hero. They’re tasked with doing the jobs no one else is willing to take on, whether because of corporate liability, potential political fallout, or simply because they’re way too dangerous.

The real life of a shadowrunner is about half as glamorous as the movies make them out to be, while being at least three times as dangerous. Runners are expendable, deniable, and replaceable. Extraction, assassination, bodyguarding, and hacking are only the tip of the iceberg of jobs runners do on a daily basis. Many deal with supernatural threats no one else is willing to touch, stealing goods and data from underneath the noses of the most powerful individuals in the world, and often blowing a lot of corporate facilities to smithereens.

In the shadows, there's no such thing as a milk run.
